Handbuilt ceramics has been my passion from the time I first touched clay. When I began throwing clay on a wheel, I started to look for ways to alter the shape and/or texture of the clay. I like to experiment with finishes from low fire under glazes to Raku to high fire. My ceramics will always evoke an emotion from laughter to thoughtfulness. Most are funky and whimsical art.
Many of my pieces have been Raku fired. Raku (as it is commonly known today) is a firing process where, through an intense reduction or smoking of the pottery, spectacular metallic luster effects are achieved. This process is very unpredictable and every piece reveals new and amazing flash of color and iridescence. As a result, no two pieces are ever alike.
